It is no surprise that Tiger Woods announced his indefinite leave from golf to work on his marriage after two weeks filled with accusations of extramarital affairs with 13 women. He would be too distracted to play golf and as a world class athlete, you have to be focused.
Married for five years with two young children, Tiger and Elin both have to be willing to work at saving their marriage if they want it to survive.
As I said on the TV show EXTRA, if I was counseling the couple, I would ask them to share a Love List of all the things they love about each other mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and sexually. Then tell them to take turns reading their list to each other. By observing their body language and the way they respond to each others’ list, I could determine the foundation of their relationship.
I would then suggest that Tiger and Elin create their own Mutual Love Agreement with their own terms to improve their relationship where both parties are able to express and negotiate their personal needs in a written format and hold each other accountable. The list of categories should include family, relationship, sexual, financial, health, physical, vacation, career, parenting, hobbies, etc. They must create this document together so that neither one feels coerced by the other and after all of the categories have been filled in by both parties, read and accepted, have them both sign and date it.
